Lassi is a traditional drink often made during peak summer months in most Indian homes. Lassi can be sweet, fruit based , spiced and simply salted too.
Indian summers are unbearable even if one decides to stay indoors, I am talking about 100°F and above. Sweat breaks even before opening the gym door in such conditions keeping oneself hydrated is the only way to stay healthy.
Here is one such filling and a thirst quencher lassi recipe, the most popular drink served in Indian restaurants all around the world.
Ingredients: (Serves 2)
Large mango- 1/2 of one cubed or around 1/2 cup canned Kesar mango pulp (Available in most Indian Grocery stores)
Whole milk - 1 cup
Yogurt -1/2 cup
Full fat cream - 2 tbsp (mascarpone cheese beaten too tasted good)
Green cardamom- 2-3 pods( peel removed and powdered)
Method:
Grind the mango pieces in a blender until smooth then add milk and yogurt.Let it blend until smooth.Pour it into tall glass.Put 1 tbsp cream per glass and sprinkle cardamom powder on top ,few cubes of mango and voila ur lassi is ready!
Oh! drop some ice cubes too :) it tastes awesome even at room temperature, trust me :)
I love to serve Mango lassi along with a light meal or sometimes instead of dessert.
Note :
- Chill all the ingredients and serve immediately after making the lassi.
- Skip milk and go for yogurt if u like the lassi tart also add some sweetener like sugar or honey if u prefer.
