Caramel Apple Cake

Warm, squishy apple on top, cake on the bottom and caramel all over.  I cannot  tell you how comforting my past two days have been indulging in this melt in the mouth dessert.

If you are looking for old fashioned fall themed dessert then this is it, the caramel is sooo yummy it actually crisps the edges of the cake and the apple is almost like a jelly, trust me people are going to thank you.

Ingredients:
Granny smith apple / Any tart apple -2 (peeled and sliced)
Sour cream- 2 tbsp
Butter 4 tbsp
Eggs -2
All purpose flour -1 1/4 cup
Baking powder-1/2 tsp
Sugar-1/2 cup
Vanilla extract- 1/2 tsp

To caramelize:
Sugar -1 cup
Water- 1/3 cup

Method:
Grease a pie dish ( 9.5 in) and and arrange the apple slices meanwhile in an empty pan first melt 2-3  tsps of sugar when it begins to caramelize add the rest of the sugar and add 1/3 cup water when it boils well and  is caramelized, pour the hot liquid on top of the sliced apples.
Mix the all purpose flour and baking powder.
Cream the butter and sugar together. Then add the eggs to it and beat well then the sour cream (use a beater/ whisk till this stage )and slowly fold in the flour mixture. Spread it on the apples.level the top
Bake at 350 F for around 40 minutes.
Let it cool for a few minutes run a clean knife around the edges then turn it upside down on to a cake stand.
Slice and enjoy.

Note:
The caramel may boil and spill while baking so make sure to keep  something underneath to catch the spill.

Hope you like it
